Urgent Need – All
Swazi Friends
We need to raise $9,000 by September 30th in order to ship needed food
to Swaziland.
So far this year
we’ve been able to work with A Child’s Hope International to send 3 containers
of food to Swaziland. A Child’s Hope raises the funding for the food and
donates that to Adventures. Our role is to raise funds for the shipping.
Food costs in
Swaziland have gone up 50-100% in the last 12 months depending on the
item. We have two containers filled with
food and ready to go. One of our
partners has funded the cost to ship one container and we need the $9,000 to
ship the other one.
We’re now feeding
5,600 children on a daily basis. Although our partnership with Children’s
HopeChest has grown and we buy most of the food locally, we’re not able to keep
up with these increased food costs. That
is why it is necessary to supplement with food supplies from the U.S.
One container holds approximately 280,000 meals. This is only roughly $.04 per meal. We can feed 5,600 children one meal a day for
50 days with this shipment.
This container
will literally bring life to many people. While $9,000 seems like a lot, it is likely that shipping costs will go
up due to possible U.S. Port strikes when the existing
contract between dockworkers and ports ends on September 30th. Our goal is to ship the food before this can
happen.
Please help us get
food to the children!
